Man or Astro-man? could be the house band for every Star Trek convention across the country, sharing their love for sci-fi by incorporating it with nostalgic '60s surf rock. Lots of twangy guitar riffs mixed with B-movie samples and a high energy level cranked to 11 are spaced throughout 1000x. Pretty similar to everything else they've released prior to this EP, but somehow Man or Astro-man? manage to cover new ground with each record without sounding redundant or tiresome. Besides, "Man Made of CO2" is worth the price of this album alone. ~ Mike DaRonco

Option (7-8/97, p.116) - "...With its disembodied drum breaks, driving bass lines and industrial guitar textures, this eight-song EP has more in common with early Pere Ubu and Devo than THE VENTURES IN SPACE....gives lie to the notion that all Man Or Astro-Man? records sound alike..."
