DVD Spotlight

Neil Diamond is one of the finest and most successful songwriters of the last forty years as well as a multi-platinum selling recording artist and one of the most dynamic and consummate live performers of his generation. This concert from the Sydney Sports Stadium was the culmination of his Australia & New Zealand tour in 1976, an event that marked his comeback to the live stage after a four year sabbatical from live performance.

Nineteen songs from Mariah Carey's 2006 "Adventures of Mimi" tour are featured on this presentation. Carey had been off the road for three years and was subject to plenty of tabloid rumor when the tour was undertaken, but her loyal fans had stuck with her, causing her album sales to soar to record-breaking heights. This presentation finds Carey performing a greatest hits package, with songs such as "Vision of Love," "I'll Be There," and "Always Be My Baby" presenting Carey with a chance to flex her considerable vocal talents. Also included here is a documentary on the tour and a short film about Carey, which is directed by Spike Lee.

She was perhaps best known for her 1953 Christmas song "Santa Baby". Orson Welles once called her the "most exciting woman in the world." She took over the role of Catwoman for the third season of the 1960s Batman TV series, replacing Julie Newmar, who was unavailable for the final season.

In 1984, she returned to the music charts with a disco song, "Where Is My Man", the first certified gold record of her career. "Where Is My Man" reached the Top 40 on the UK Singles Chart, where it peaked at #36; The song also made the Top 10 on the US Billboard dance chart, where it reached #7. The single was followed by the album "I Love Men" on the Record Shack label.
