Tony Danza stars as Jack Clayton, a small town crook who finds himself in hot water after a botched heist at a shopping mall. In an attempt to elude the cops, he catches a bus out of town. Landing in the quaint town of Evergreen, Jack dons a Santa Claus suit and takes a job in a Christmas tree lot where he meets Sara Gibson (Lea Thompson), a kind single mother. When Jack realizes that he may have a chance to take a large amount of money from the town bank vault on Christmas Eve, it becomes a race against time to see if the good people of his new town can make him see the error of his criminal ways.
