Kathleen Turner stars as the tough-talking private investigator V.I. Warshawski, heroine of a series of popular detective novels by Sara Paretsky. A working class gal from Chicago's North Side, Warshawski proves she can hold her own against an assortment of male miscreants as she attempts to crack a case involving the murder of an ex-hockey player. But Warshawski has more than just her sleuthing duties to attend to: she also has her hands full looking after the dead man's smart-mouthed adolescent daughter.
