Mstislav Rostropovich
(1927 - 2007)
He is widely considered to have been one of the greatest cellists of the twentieth century.
Among the composers who wrote especially for Rostropovich were Shostakovich, Prokofiev, Britten, Bernstein, Schnitke, Khachaturian and Piazzolla.
